Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented food safety professional to help manage and strengthen sanitation, regulatory compliance, and audit preparedness across a network of distribution and fulfillment facilities. This individual will play a hands-on role in keeping programs current, documentation tight, and sites inspection-ready while building strong working relationships with both internal teams and outside vendors. This position works closely with groups such as Operations, Quality Assurance, Facilities, and external service providers. A key part of the job involves identifying problems early, coordinating timely responses, and making sure outcomes are properly recorded. Responsibilities Regulatory & Compliance Help keep the organization aligned with applicable federal and state food safety regulations, including maintaining accurate records and helping facility teams stay prepared for oversight activities. Play an active role in the upkeep of programs such as Seafood HACCP, USDA Organic certification, and Preventive Controls - including reviewing records, verifying activities, and tracking issues through to resolution. Work alongside operations teams to keep food safety planning documentation accurate and current, covering areas like hazard analysis, monitoring logs, and control measures. Help coordinate the organization's response to regulatory visits, including pulling together relevant materials, joining walkthroughs, and tracking follow-up items. Help oversee the consistent execution of facility sanitation programs, covering areas such as: Recurring cleaning schedules and task completion tracking Written standards for how sanitation work should be performed Processes for checking that cleaning was done correctly and addressing gaps Specialized cleaning protocols for fresh produce areas, including moisture and contamination control Sanitation approaches tailored to highly automated environments Procedures for areas where returned or damaged goods are handled Assist in managing relationships with outside sanitation contractors, including keeping qualification records current, reviewing their work, and flagging concerns when standards aren't met. Coordinate with pest management vendors, review their visit documentation, and help track patterns that may need attention. Audits & Verification Support a structured internal audit program by helping schedule reviews, gathering supporting documentation, and following corrective actions through to completion. Help facilities prepare for external audits and certifications by organizing records, walking through readiness checklists, and coordinating how findings are addressed. Personally conduct or assist with on-site reviews using established assessment tools, then work with local teams to develop practical plans for addressing what's found. Look across audit results to identify patterns, help develop root cause explanations, and suggest program improvements that reduce the likelihood of issues recurring. Tracking, Reporting & Follow-Up Maintain ongoing reports and dashboards covering areas like cleaning task completion, open corrective actions, and audit progress. Keep a close eye on program metrics, confirm that documentation backs up reported performance, and flag anything that's overdue or poses an elevated risk. Log and track issues raised through internal escalation channels, coordinate next steps, and make sure resolutions are captured in writing. Team & Program Support Keep internal resources up to date, including contact directories, training records, and materials used to bring new team members up to speed. Serve as a day-to-day resource for program-related questions, helping maintain the tools, templates, and standards that sites rely on. Check in regularly with facility teams to reinforce expectations, support training efforts, and assist with completing corrective actions. Help plan and participate in field visits, including logistics coordination and preparation of any needed materials. Work across departments to help embed food safety thinking into everyday operations and make sure people understand what's expected of them. Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health, or a comparable discipline. Required Solid familiarity with FDA food safety requirements, including FSMA and related Preventive Controls regulations, as well as USDA standards and Seafood HACCP principles. Formal certification is a bonus. At least two years working in food safety, sanitation, quality, or compliance in a distribution, fresh food, or production setting. Hands-on experience with audit processes - internal, third-party, or regulatory - including keeping documentation organized and seeing corrective actions through to closure. Comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities, following established procedures, and supporting rollouts across more than one location at a time. Clear communicator with strong organizational habits and a sharp eye for detail, particularly when working with field teams and outside contractors. Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time within an assigned region, with occasional overnight stays as needed. Preferred Background working in or around highly automated warehouse or fulfillment environments. Experience holding outside service providers accountable to program standards across a multi-facility footprint. Prior exposure to programs that span several locations, including field-based support or coordinating audit readiness activities across sites. #J-18808-Ljbffr OtterBase
