Position Overview The UI/UX Analyst is responsible for establishing the overall application look and feel as well as designing, communicating, and executing all user interface screens for each business requirement. This role directs the overall design and user experience for the delivered product, working closely with Business Analysts and Technical Leads. Key Responsibilities Understand project scope, requirements, functionality, size, scalability, and usability of IT solutions. Adhere to project schedules while examining existing business processes to develop interface designs. Work with UAT testers and conduct usability testing to ensure conformance with UI/UX best practices. Participate in requirement gathering and brainstorming sessions to identify usability concerns. Conduct user interviews, research, observations, and testing; develop personas, user flows, journey maps, and storyboards. Facilitate regular design meetings and lead overall visual design, usability, and accessibility efforts. Create sketches, wireframes, mockups, and high‑fidelity prototypes adhering to State of Michigan (SOM) standards and ADA requirements. Review wireframes with Business Analysts and Technical Leads for feasibility. Provide resources and guidance to development teams regarding UI/UX best practices and ADA vulnerability remediation. Perform accessibility testing and serve as a liaison to the DTMB Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) eMichigan team. Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in user interface (UI) design. 3-5 years of experience conducting user research. Degree or certification in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, User Interface Design, or a related field. Portfolio submission demonstrating design skills and project experience. 2-3 professional references. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing in alignment with established design standards. Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and experience designing for accessibility. Experience conducting usability and accessibility (ADA) testing. Important Logistics Location: Candidates must be local to the Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles). This is non-negotiable. Work Schedule: Hybrid (Non-Negotiable). Onsite days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays; remote days are Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Assignment: Ongoing long-term contract with potential for extension. Interview Process: 60-minute virtual interview via MS Teams (video required). Candidates must join from a laptop and be prepared to share their screen.
