JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintenance and Landscaping Technician​

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Maintenance and Landscaping

COORDINATES WITH: ​Housekeeping and Guest Relations Teams

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides maintenance and landscaping duties to maintain the property and vacation homes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintains the property, vacation homes, and work equipment in top condition.

2. Provides routine and preventive maintenance on the property and in the vacation homes.

3. Responds to work orders.

4. Identifies potential maintenance issues to prevent future repairs and/or unplanned projects.

5. Identifies areas to improve the facility’s operational efficiency.

6. Daily tasks include general maintenance and repairs, mowing, hot tub maintenance.

7. Provides landscaping duties as assigned by the Director of Landscaping.

8. Maintains annual and perennial ornamental plant care/sourcing/maintenance. This includes planting, weed trimming around garden beds, in-bed weeding, watering, fertilizing, mulching, pruning, propagating, and plant sourcing.  Includes bulb planting and sourcing.

9. Works with the area Director with the landscaping design.  Assists with research, design, and implementation plans for landscaping projects.

10. Executes overall beautification and sustainability projects.

11. Assists with the land management projects for the Barkwells Conservation Easement.

12. Completes minor stonework and raised bed establishment/repair: stairways, pathways, small retaining walls.

13. Executes turf management tasks to include aerating, fertilizing, organic herbicide applications, and mowing.

14. Completes pruning, hedge trimming, taking care of woody shrubs and small trees, as needed.

15. Handles general tidying of outdoor areas to include weed trimming, leaf blowing, hand weeding, cleaning up fallen sticks, invasive plant removal, beach maintenance, snow and ice removal/prevention.

16. Creates and maintains features that increase the biodiversity and environmental sustainability of the campus, including vegetable gardens, pollinator gardens, and medicinal herb gardens.

17. Creates and maintains documentation of landscaping beds and overall landscaping design on properties.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Pleasant and respectful with staff, guests and their dogs.

• Dependable and able to work independently.

• Flexible – able to accomplish last minute work requests from the officeand housekeeping.

• Attention to detail and taking pride in your work is a must.

• Clear communicator who updates task list and supply needs.

• Use of a smartphone to access scheduling and task list.

EDUCATION:  

• High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• 1+ Years of experience in a related area.

• Excellent customer-service, interpersonal, and both written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to operate independently as well as with a team.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Skilled with time management and ability to prioritize operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, sitting, and walking.

• Prolonged periods of time outdoors

• Lifting, bending, stooping.

• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless exemption is approved.
