To support the Department of Veteran Affairs, the remote Junior Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating modern development practices. Key responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy software solutions using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning and code reviews, while collaborating closely with product managers and other engineers Maintain and enhance existing products, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend improvements to development processes and tools Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 2+ years of professional software development experience, particularly with enterprise or mission-critical systems Proficiency in Java and Spring Development, along with experience in modern software frameworks and tools Understanding of secure coding practices and experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
