The Office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel, and enforce state laws. Staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year. Responsibilities Independently review and analyze complex criminal activity, developing research tools and methods such as link analysis, telephone and cellular toll data, and computerized charts. Request forms to accommodate intelligence information. Develop and analyze informational databases, spreadsheets, and reports to facilitate information exchange and understanding. Prepare case reports and charts, testify in court, and maintain case files. Assist administrators and senior analysts in achieving unit goals and objectives. Collect, research, and analyze intelligence to determine patterns, trends, and movements of organized crime, terrorism, or professional criminal activity. Coordinate research activities with other departmental units and outside agencies. Recommend policy and procedural changes to supervisors or higher-level authorities. Ensure compliance with applicable federal statutes, Ohio Revised Codes, and Attorney General Bureau of Criminal Investigation directives. Assist in reviewing and recommending software and hardware equipment. Serve as a resource person and technical advisor for criminal intelligence matters. Represent the agency in meetings and facilitate the exchange of information with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Schedule, coordinate, and conduct classes, seminars, and conferences; maintain associations with and facilitate information exchange between agencies. Qualifications 36 months experience in research studies and problem solving using operational, mathematical, analytical, or statistical techniques, including preparation of reports, records, and technical evaluations. 12 months training or experience with database management programs (Excel, Access) and presentation software (PowerPoint). Or completion of an undergraduate core program in criminal justice or a related field with equivalent training or experience. Or 12 months experience as a Researcher 1 or 2 (job codes 66921 or 66922) with equivalent training or experience. Or equivalent minimum class qualifications for employment. Preferred Qualifications Prior knowledge, experience, or education with financial records and financial crimes.
